PNoy's SONA 2011

July 25, 2011 (Monday), the day when President Benigno Aquino III delivered his 2nd State of the Nation Address (SONA). It was my first time to hear a president using Filipino language for the entire speech because our previous presidents normally use English language. I think that means Pnoy’s SONA is exclusively for the Filipino and not a means to impress anyone in other countries. I personally admired him for that.

As usual, Pnoy started and repeatedly mention his favorite word wang wang and utak wang wang in his speech. He reminded us on what he promised during his inauguration, which is the removal of corruption in our country. I hope that corruption can take away by Pnoy even though i know that it was so hard. I'll support you for that. And Of course, he mentioned the accomplishments done within the year like the self-rated hunger has gone down from 20.5% in March to 15.1% this June—equivalent to a million Filipino families who used to go hunger, an estimated yearly shortage of 1.3 million metric tons is down to 660,000, a 15.6 percent increase in rice production, lesser cases of car and motorcycle theft, lower unemployment rate and there is a new road that was built in Barangay Bagumbayan in Sta. Maria, Laguna,  clean water that residents in Barangay Poblacion in Ferrol, Romblon are now enjoying  and others.

Yes, Pnoy mentioned a lot of accomplishments and comparison  from the former presidents, but there are things that Pnoy didn’t mention like about his opinion about RH bill, if he is going to support it or not.

Reflecting on his SONA, I believe that it’s about time for us to do our part, we should have to be cooperative and discipline, stop saying that there’s still no progression or slow progression, what I can say is wait. A thousand miles of journey starts with a single step. It’s only been one year, there are still 5 years to come, I know there are so many things will happen within those years, just be patient. Remember that Pnoy is human not a god, he can’t just snap and things will happen like a magic. Being a president comes with big responsibility, a single mistake will make a large effect. It’s harder than any other jobs. I hope that he will keep and make his promises come true! Let’s just believe in him and to his words.
